Apart from Carel in the 201, Ecurie Maarsbergen also entered Jack Fairman in the 202 chassis with starting number 14. Fairman had just turned 50, but at the time was still a test driver for the new ATS project of Carlo Chiti. Carel qualified eighth with Fairman close behind in ninth. The only works team present was Lotus and nobody was a match for them.
The non-championship Imola Grand Prix was another prey for Jim Clark, with De Beaufort finishing sixth ahead of occasional team mate Fairman.
