De Beaufort couldn't find the speed he needed at Oulton Park. After practice he was only 18th on the grid. Luckily the car again proved very reliable in the race and with a lot of help from the large number of retirements Carel finished seventh out of ten eventual finishers.
The Gold Cup turned out to be an easy prey for the virtually unbeatable combination of Jim Clark and the Lotus 25.
