Nobody expected Ferrari to be less dominant in Britain then they had already been in Belgium and France, and in fact they weren’t. In practice however, Bonnier managed to qualify on the front row and the Lotus cars were close as well. Carel qualified 18th of a huge field of 30 cars. The race started under appalling conditions. Heavy rain caused many drivers to spin their cars in the opening stages but that didn’t keep the Ferraris from pulling away from the field with only Stirling Moss amongst them. But after Moss spun and eventually retired, things were back to ‘normal’. Now it was Von Trips leading Hill and Ginther home in another Ferrari 1-2-3.

Carel finished the race in 16th place, with only Wolfgang Seidel behind him.
