The predictions for the 1960 Le Mans race were that Ferrari would not have much difficulty to win and indeed they didn’t: the prancing horse took first, second, fourth and fifth.
Carel drove the RS60 with Dickie Stoop. In their class the only competition came from two other private RS60s, one works RS60 and a works Carrera-Abarth. Only the works cars made it to the finish with the Carrera of Barth/Seidel coming in 10th overall.
Carel’s car broke down on Sunday morning with distribution problems.
