The 5th running of this international event and the first time it was won by a Dutchman: count Hugo van Zuylen van Nijevelt with co-driver Franz Eschauzier in a Jowett Javelin. Carel joined this Tulip Rallye event in his Beetle with co-driver Mr. H.J. Boekhout, an experienced navigator. They didn't make it to the finish, which was at the Zandvoort racetrack, where the last of the 14 special stages took place, including a race with Le Mans start.
Two images of the Zandvoort special stage, which was actually a race with Le Mans start.
The winners receive their trophy at Huis ter Duin,
a well-known hotel in that other famous Dutch beach resort of Noordwijk.
